Alumet introduces ultra matt, a new anodized aluminium finish created for architects who are looking for a softer, calmer and more mineral facade surface.

Ultra matt gives aluminium a low-reflection appearance with the visual depth often associated with ceramic or terracotta facades. At the same time, it keeps the practical benefits of anodized aluminium: low weight, durability, colour stability and long-term resistance to outdoor conditions.

 

A softer surface through kinetic satinizing

The ultra matt finish is created through kinetic satinizing. This controlled surface treatment refines the aluminium before anodizing and creates a smooth, low-reflection texture. The result is a facade surface that feels calm, consistent and architectural.

Compared with traditional matt finishes, ultra matt gives the aluminium a more mineral character. Reflections are softened, natural material variations become less visible and the surface gains a more even appearance. This makes the finish especially interesting for larger facade areas where visual consistency is important.

An alternative to ceramic and terracotta facades

Ceramic and terracotta materials are often chosen for their warm, earthy and mineral expression. Ultra matt anodized aluminium brings that same type of architectural softness into a lighter and more flexible material.

Aluminium reduces structural load, is easier to transport and install, and is suitable for larger panels and extrusions. It also avoids some of the limitations of ceramic elements, such as fragility, cracking risk and restricted panel sizes.
